Junior Mechanical Estimator

We are seeking an entry-level career opportunity in the HVAC, Electrical & Plumbing industry. This rare employment opportunity is to join the Design Build Group as a JUNIOR ESTIMATOR at our Pittsburgh, PA corporate office. Successful candidate will be trained and exposed to all aspects of the HVAC, Electrical & Plumbing industry with possible career paths to: senior-level estimating roles, construction management (project manager/project engineer), mechanical design, and/or CAD coordinators. 

As an entry-level Jr. Estimator, you will be instructed in the application and practical use of Estimation View-Point estimating software.

Candidates must possess a team oriented attitude, strong communication skills, higher-level organizational and attention-to-detail abilities. No previous estimating or industry experience is required, but parallel course work in a relative educational degree or certificate program is preferred. 

Training and instruction in the below estimating responsibilities will include: 

  • Analyze blueprints, construction drawings, and other documentation to prepare time, cost, materials, and labor estimates.
  • Thoroughly review front ends and specifications for scope or pricing impact items.
  • Obtain and evaluate material, equipment, and subcontractor quotes.
  • Prepare conceptual estimates for budgeting projects.
  • Able to communicate, schedule, analyze information, and take responsibility for estimating duties.
  • Review bid documents for potential conflicts and constructability issues.
  • Communicate with clients, gather all necessary data, and analyze all information in order to assemble complete project cost.
  • Confer with general contractors/construction managers, engineers, and designers on changes or adjustments for estimates.
  • Follow company procedures for communication, dialogue, timesheets, and assembling of estimates.
  • Strengthen teamwork oriented traits.
  • Learn all software programs utilized in the day-to-day business operations of the company.
